I must admit that it was someone that pointed me to the difference between a 'manager' and a 'jefe', and then I realized that in Spain traditionally it's all been about 'begin a boss', more than actually managing or, you know, working. Since I can't for the life of me figure out who I heard it from, it will have to go unacknowledged.
But really, if your boss refers to him or herself as 'boss', you know things are not right. That 'I HEART BOSS' mug he bought himself isn't a good indicator either.
