This is one of the most effective methods for handling criticism inside a company!

It's a kind of Pavlov conditioning.

  • "How am I managing you?"
  • "Well you could change the way you apply the <SHOCK>ouch!"
  • "I repeat, how am I doing?"
  • And after a while, you'll get an "You are doing excellent, sir!"

As a disclaimer, this is related to personal experiences but in my case I've been always lucky enough that my bosses actually listened if you talked to them. Funny thing is that somehow, they managed to explain it exactly as depicted here :D.
